Marilyn L. Johnson

Marilyn, L. Johnson, 87, Grand Forks, ND, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2025 in Valley Senior Living on 42nd.

Marilyn Luella Bergland was born November 6, 1937 in Hawley, MN, the daughter of Elmer and Clara (Kleiv) Bergland. She was raised in Hawley and in East Grand Forks, MN where she graduated from high school.

Marilyn married Odell Johnson on September 21, 1957 in Dwight, ND. They lived on a farm near Dwight until moving to East Grand Forks, MN. Marilyn was employed for more than 25 years as a housekeeper for Deaconess Hospital, St. Michael’s Hospital and United Hospital. In retirement, she was a host at McDonald’s Restaurant and had independent cleaning jobs.

Marilyn enjoyed cooking, camping, dancing and singing.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Debbie (James) Peterson, McVille, ND, Dave (Joyce) Johnson, Prior Lake, MN; granddaughter, Angie (Scott) Rubash, Grand Forks, ND; and great grandchildren, Arynn and Anton Rubash.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Odell Johnson on November 11, 1993; son, Larry Johnson; and by brothers, Orris, Charles, Wallace, and Dennis.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Friday, July 18, 2025 at Amundson Funeral and Cremation Service, Grand Forks. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery of East Grand Forks, MN.
