Marlene Alice Nordrum, 83, of Grand Forks, North Dakota, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026, in Larimore, North Dakota, at the Good Samaritan Society following a brief illness.
Marlene was born on June 19, 1943, to Pearl and Hugh Noyes and was raised in Johnstown, North Dakota. She spent her life rooted in family, community, and simple joys. Marlene worked in Central Supply at Altru Hospital until taking an early retirement, after which she worked alongside her husband at their construction company.
On June 18, 1960, Marlene married the love of her life, Eugene Nordrum. They shared many years together until his passing on October 21, 2011.
Marlene will be remembered for her warm heart and the quiet happiness she found in everyday moments. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, gardening, baking, and treasured her lunch outings with her good friend Madeline. She also never passed up a good cup of tea, which often accompanied her moments of relaxation and reflection.
She is lovingly survived by her children: daughter Darcie of Mesa, Arizona; sons Michael of Grand Forks, Gregory (Melissa) of Warren, Minnesota; and Scott of Sauk City, Wisconsin. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Ryan (Kenny) of Mesa, Arizona; Derek of San Tan Valley, Arizona; Brooke of Grand Forks, North Dakota; Josh (Jaimee) of Thief River Falls, Minnesota; Ivey of Warren, Minnesota; Matthew (Katrina) of Hanford, California; and Eric of Corcoran, California. Marlene was also blessed with great-grandchildren Riley, Autumn, James, Livie, and Noble, Haylee, Natalee, and Eric who brought her great joy. She is also survived by many extended family members, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; her parents, Pearl Jorgenson and Hugh Noyes; her stepfather, Melvin Jorgenson; and her brother, Wesley Noyes.
In accordance with Marlene’s wishes, no services will be held. She chose to donate her body to the University of North Dakota Medical School, a final act of generosity that reflects her giving spirit.
Marlene’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew and loved her.
