Marvette Gimbel

Marvette Jo Gimbel, age 77, of Hampton, Virginia, formerly of New York Mills, Minnesota, passed away on August 7, 2026.

Marvette was born on February 7, 1949, in Grand Forks ND. She spent many years as a beloved member of the New York Mills community, where she owned and operated Kuntry Kurl Beauty Shop. Through her work, she built lasting friendships and touched the lives of countless customers with her warmth, kindness, and caring spirit.

Marvette will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Jeff Gimbel of Fargo, North Dakota, Jay (Kristi) Gimbel of Randleman, North Carolina, her sister Gloria Charlson of Denver Colorado, 4 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter, and William Riggins of Hampton VA.

She leaves behind many friends and loved ones who will cherish her memory and the many happy moments they shared with her.

Marvette's life was marked by hard work, and a genuine gift for connecting with others. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and other loved ones who welcomed her home. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am at Walle Lutheran Church on September 28, 2026. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at East Walle Cemetery.
