Matthew "Matt" Litzinger, 41 of Grand Forks, North Dakota died Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, North Dakota.

Matt was born on June 26, 1985, the son of Michael and Kristi (Day) Litzinger in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He was raised in Grand Forks and graduated from Grand Forks Central High School in 2003, where he excelled in sports and academics. Matt participated in track and field and football. He played in the Shrine Bowl his senior year, as well as becoming state champion in the Javelin event. Matt was honored to be inducted into the Grand Forks Central High School Hall of Fame in 2020. Matt continued his athletic career at UND, where he became an All American in track and field and a national champion in the javelin event in 2008. He graduated from UND and began his career with the FAA in Air Traffic Control and later as an Air Traffic Control Specialist.

Matt was united in marriage to Natae Heisler on March 21, 2009, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Devils Lake, North Dakota. They made their home in Grand Forks where they raised their children Mason, Parker and Hadley. Matt enjoyed ice fishing, golf, hunting, trap shooting, daddy daughter dances, and Pokémon card hunting with his wife and kids. He was very particular about how the grass looked in his yard and could fix anything. He was the local weather reporter for his family and friends. Matt loved his family dearly and cherished the time he spent with them. He was known to go above and beyond to help anyone in need.

Matt is survived by his loving wife, Natae; his children, Mason, Parker and Hadley; parents, Mike and Kristi Litzinger; brother, Shaun (Emily) Litzinger; grandmother, Delores Mueller; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and LeAnn Heisler; brothers-in-law, Nevon (Meghan) Heisler and Denton Heisler; nieces, Lexi Litzinger and Madalyn Heisler; nephews, Michael Litzinger and Brayden Heisler; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Matt was preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul “Cookie” Litzinger, Elizabeth Liz” Litzinger and Clarence Mueller, best friend, Justin Mondor, numerous aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00p.m. Monday, July 6, 2026, at Sharon Lutheran Church, Grand Forks, ND with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Sharon Lutheran Church, Grand Forks, ND.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in memory of Matt for his children's future college education.
