Michael James Kearney was born and raised in Grand Forks, North Dakota, on July 17, 1974, at St. Mike’s Hospital to Kenneth “Kenny” and Agnes “Angie” (Jensen) Kearney. He graduated from Red River High School in 1993. Following graduation, Mike began working as a roofing contractor and found a passion for completing projects. At 23 years old, with a strong work ethic, Mike established his own business, Michael Kearney Construction.
Mike was a true outdoorsman at heart, finding joy in hunting and fishing. He was a man who valued hard work and was a perfectionist in the best sense—striving for excellence in all that he did and his ability to fix anything that crossed his path. He enjoyed sending silly Snapchat and text messages to his family and surprising them with pop-in visits. Mike was always ready and the first to lend a hand to his family and friends, which often came with Mike offering his “brutally honest” opinions with his extraordinary humor and laughter.
Mike is survived by his daughter, Jordan Kearney of Grand Forks, ND; son, McCoy Littlejohn of East Grand Forks, MN; grandson, Santana Lopez; mother, Agnes “Angie” Kearney of Grand Forks, ND; brother, Jayson (Theresa) Kearney of Grand Forks, ND; nieces, Cassandra (Brock) Hillebrand, Ashley (Tyler) Magnuson, and McKayla Kearney; and many other family members and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Kearney, and his grandparents.
