Michael J. Molstad

Michael J. Molstad, 60, Grand Forks, ND, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 in Devils Lake, ND.

Michael John Molstad was born August 28, 1963 in Grand Forks, the son of James and Evelyn (Volk) Molstad. He was raised and educated in Grand Forks and graduated from Red River High School in 1981. Mike continued his education at the East Grand Forks AVTI, graduating with certifications in welding and construction. Mike worked for A & H Vending before starting his own construction company, MJM Construction. He later worked as a heavy equipment operator for Molstad Excavating, Inc., where he was currently employed.

Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing and going for drives in the country. He played hockey as a young man. He also participated in dart and billiards leagues.  Mike married Peggy Pilon on April 24, 1992 in Grand Forks.  She survives along with their children, Grant Molstad, Grand Forks and Courtney (Luke Kratochvil) Molstad, Petersburg, ND; mother, Evelyn Molstad, Grand Forks; siblings, Barry Molstad, Crookston, MN and Janna (Brian) Swanson, Fargo, ND; nephews, Kyle (Chelsey) Swanson, Grand Forks, and Casey Swanson (Elizabeth Thompson), East Grand Forks, MN.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, James Molstad; and by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jerome and Maebelle Pilon.
