Master Sergeant (Ret.) David Wesley Grubb, age 78, of Grand Forks, North Dakota, passed away on August 13th, 2026. A man defined by devotion—to his country, his community, and most of all his family—David lived a life of service and steadfast love.
Born and raised in Indiana, David grew up with strong values and a deep sense of responsibility. He married the love of his life, Clarice, just three months before joining the United States Air Force, beginning a partnership that would last 57 years and remain the foundation of his life. His military career spanned 22½ years, during which he served with honor across the world, including assignments in Italy, Turkey, Guam, and North Dakota. His leadership, professionalism, and unwavering commitment earned the respect of everyone who served beside him.
After retiring from the Air Force in 1991, David continued his life of service by working 20 years in corrections in both Grand Forks, ND and Crookston, MN, where he supported the safety and integrity of the community. Known for his fairness, reliability, and calm presence, he was deeply respected by colleagues and staff alike.
David was an incredible husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather, the steady center of his family. He took immense pride in his three children and the lives they built.
He is survived by his wife, Clarice; his children, David Grubb of Arizona, his wife Katie, and their son Owen; Denver Grubb of Minnesota and his wife Kristen; and Christina Grubb of Wisconsin. He is also survived by his siblings Danny, Dennis, Darlene, Debbie, Diana, Dana, and Duane — all of Indiana — and Darla of Tennessee, all of whom carry cherished memories of their brother. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and June Grubb.
David will be remembered as a man who served his country, his community, and his family with honor, strength, and heart.
