Nan Louise Yager

Nan Louise Yager of Devils Lake passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Altru Medical Center in Grand Forks at the age of 74 surrounded by her family.

Nan Louise (Svidal) Yager was born on December 8, 1947 to Isabelle (Hagen) and Ludvig Svidal in Devils Lake, ND.

Nan was united in marriage to Joseph Peter Yager on August 19, 1967. They established their home in Devils Lake where they had four children and eventually formed and operated Lighting Electric.

She was an avid animal lover and along with her own animals would take care of any stray she came across. She was known to carry around treats for the dogs she encountered during the many walks she would take during the day.

Nan enjoyed reading, spending time with her friends and family and was an active member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church. Her favorite pastime was riding on the back of the motorcycle with Joe.  They enjoyed many hours on the road both by themselves and with their amazing friends visiting many beautiful places around the country. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Nan is survived by her husband, Joe of over 54 years; brother, Robert Svidal Mt. Pleasant, lA; daughter, Amy (Dean) Bachmeier, Fargo ND; son, Eric Yager, Dallas OR; daughters, Saraye (Lance) Forsberg, Devils Lake ND and Lisa (Jarrod) Rost, Park River ND; grandchildren, Brynn Bachmeier, Maple Gove MN, Ellea Bachmeier, Green Bay WI, Carsyn Bachmeier, Fargo ND, Brandi Yager, Grand Forks ND, Calli and Brody Forsberg both of Devils Lake, ND, Bevan, Chloe and Aiden Rost all of Park River ND; sisters-in-law, Judy (Yager) Fjellenger, Rugby ND, Joni (Yager) Hagen, Fargo ND; brother-in-law, Denny Yager, Troy ID, along with many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held in Devils Lake in the Spring of 2022.

In lieu of cards or flowers, Nan would have loved for people to donate to their local animal shelter in her name.  A few of her favorites are TLC Animal Rescue in Devils Lake, ND; Circle of Friends Animal Rescue in Grand Forks, ND or TMAR in Rolla, ND.
