Odell C. Stadstad

March 16, 1929 — July 16, 2025

Manvel, ND

Odell Clyde Stadstad, age 96, lifelong resident of Manvel, ND passed away on July 17, 2025 at the Fargo VA Community Life Center. Odell was defined largely by his genuine love for family and friends, and was blessed to have two generations of family present with him at the end of his life.

Odell was born to William and Cora (Storstad) Stadstad on March 16, 1929 in Grand Forks. At 17 he entered the Air Force and achieved the rank of Sargeant. In 1951 he met the passion of his life, Regina Riske. They were married in November of 1951 and raised their three children in the town of Manvel. Reggie passed away in 2016. Odell dabbled in a few careers before settling into the construction and building industry. He co-owned the bar in Manvel for a short time, tried out the farming industry, and found his niche with road construction, concrete work and finally co-owned Bushaw and Stadstad Constuction, Stadstad and Stadstad Construction with his sons, and eventually general contracting work until his retirement. He continued to work on plumbing, concrete, home remodeling, and various projects into his late 80’s. He was a hard working man yet loved a fun and active social life with Reggie by his side. Snowmobiling, fishing, laking, gardening, bird hunting, snowskiing, dancing, cardplaying, trips to Las Vegas but mostly hanging out with family and friends either “uptown Manvel” or in his home or yard. Odell was a life-long member of Manvel American Legion Post #299 and a charter member of the Turtle River Roughriders snowmobile club of Manvel. Odell was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Manvel.

Odell was grateful for sharing his life with his wife Reggie and their three children: Larry Odell Stadstad (Becky) of Manvel, Lynne Marie Hoverson (Davis) of Manvel, Lee Jon Stadstad (Michelle) of Manvel. Grandchildren Linsey Stadstad of Grand Forks and her children Bodhi and Banx; Jacob Stadstad (Brooke) and their children Smith, Talon and Navy; John Hoverson (Katie) and their children Alethia and Luke; Mark Hoverson {deceased} (Shannon) and their children Isaac, Grace, Rush and Micah; Jeff Hoverson (Erica) and their children Raina and Ronan. Jason Stadstad {deceased}; Jared Stadstad (Lachen) and their children, Jase and Jett; Justin Stadstad.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Reggie, two grandsons, Mark and Jason, his brothers and their wives, Ray and Frances Stadstad and Bud and Lavina Stadstad and sister and brothers-in-laws, Irene and Richard Teske, Henry and Leona Riske and Steven and Leonarda Riske.

Our Dad spent his lifetime teaching us to be self-sufficient, to learn to make do with what you had and to spend within your means, to learn skills to fix and build, to be patient when we were impatient, to love with humor and forgiveness, to laugh and have fun in life, to care and understand the downtrodden, and to be a friend to mankind. At the end of the day, age has no boundaries—-we will miss him and will always be grateful for the great Dad we had.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jason Stadstad Arena or Manvel School Playground fund.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 31, 2025 from 2 to 4 pm followed by a 4 pm memorial service at Trinity Lutheran Church, Manvel, ND.
