Pamella Jo Nelson was born on April, 8th 1954 in Grand Forks, ND to Frank Joseph and Sophie Marie (Opyt) Griggs. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Thursday, October 16th, 2025.
Pam grew up and lived her entire life around Thompson, ND. She attended school in Thompson, graduating with honors in 1972. While in school, she was active in 4-H, cheerleading, chorus, and had a love for horses.
After high school, she attended Aaker's Business School in Grand Forks, ND but made her way quickly back to marry the love of her life, Charles (Chuck) B. Nelson. They were united into marriage on December 8th, 1973, at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Thompson, ND.
From this union, they raised 3 sons, Jason, Aaron, and Casey. She was the boys’ biggest cheerleader and enjoyed watching them in all of their school activities.
Pam worked various jobs throughout her life but was most passionate about working on their farm and in their yard. Pam was very hands-on with the farming operations and enjoyed every aspect of it. She also enjoyed ceramics, crafting, quilting and sewing. If you ever stopped over, the one place you could find Pam was in her yard tending to her flower beds. She also enjoyed puzzles, attending her grandkids’ activities, and watching the first snowfall. In 2013, Pam gave the generous gift of her Kidney to her long-time best friend, Judy Reyelts.
