Ralph E. Tack, age 93, of Grand Forks, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2025, at his home surrounded by the love of his family.
Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks.
Ralph Edwin Tack was born December 18, 1931, in rural East Grand Forks, Minnesota. He was one of five children, born to Herman and Emma (Doering) Tack. Ralph was baptized on April 21, 1932, in a church in East Grand Forks. He became a member of First Lutheran Church in East Grand Forks on November 24, 1957. Ralph attended a small country school through the eighth grade and was drafted into the army in January 1953. He served during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan for 14 months. Following his military service, Ralph worked on various farms prior to beginning a position at Maytag Sales, and later at Goodman’s, working in appliance repair. In 1986, Goodman’s sold the appliance repair department to Ralph and Bud Olson, which then became Bud & Ralph’s Appliance Service. He continued to work at Bud & Ralph’s until his retirement in 2017.
On August 31, 1957, Ralph was united in marriage to Louella Renz at First Lutheran Church in East Grand Forks. They were married for 67 years and blessed with 4 children. Throughout their years, Ralph and Lou enjoyed traveling and square dancing. Ralph also filled his free time with taking oil painting classes, helping Lou with their flower garden, and helping care for their family.
Ralph is survived by his children, Rebecca (Danny) Guseman of West Columbia, SC, Edwin Tack of Carrollton, TX, David (Nermita) Tack of Minot, ND, and Audra (Bob) Burckhard of Grand Forks, ND; 7 grandchildren; Jessica (Joshua) Westra, Kelcey (Taylor) Burry, Spencer (Ana) Tack, Alec (Myah) Burckhard, Michayla (Jacob Mehlhoff) Burckhard, Colleen (Jonathon Jones) Guseman, and Aaron Tack; 7 great-grandchildren, Joel, Jace, and Josilyn Westra, Esmae and Elaina Tack, James Burry, and Abel Burckhard; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louella Tack; parents, Herman and Emma; brothers, Harry Tack and Harlan Tack; and sisters, Violet Lindberg and Dorothy Custer.
Ralph was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, skilled appliance repairman, and talented artist.
