A beloved soul has ended her journey on earth and is now in heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Ramie Ann Kowalski passed away peacefully at home with her family on May 17th, 2026.
Ramie Ann Lizakowski was born on July 31st, 1933, in Warsaw, ND to Paul and Natalie (Gerszewski) Lizakowski. After her father's passing, she worked hard on the family farm running the combine, looking after her siblings and helping her mom with baking, cooking, cleaning and sewing. She attended school in Warsaw. After graduation she received her degree from Aaker's business college in Grand Forks, ND.
On October 20th, 1954, she married Thomas Andrew Kowalski at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Warsaw. They lived there before settling in Grand Forks in 1960, where they raised their 5 daughters. Her favorite jobs were working at Miller's bakery and JR Simplot, where she retired after 27 years at the age of 78.
Ramie was loyal and protective. She loved life and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She liked playing bingo, taking road trips and her favorite was spending time outside gardening on the farm her and Tom created. She loved sitting on the swings eating popsicles, watching sunsets, gazing at the stars and waiting for the northern lights.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandma (Gmama) great-grandma, sister and friend.
She is survived by her daughters Sharie Kowalski, Mayville ND, Germaine (Jay) Rhone, McIntosh MN, Doreen Kowalski, Grand Forks, ND, Tammy (Dean) Haldorson, Conway, ND, Shannon (Brian) Casey, Grand Forks, ND, 12 grandkids 16 great grandkids, a brother George Lizakowski, Grand Forks, ND, a sister Theresa (Jim) Briske, Grand Forks, ND.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Natalie, husband Thomas, brothers Stanley, Harry, Florian and Onufry and sisters Florianna, Rae and Elizabeth.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 5 to 7 with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at Amundson Funeral Home. Visitation will continue 1 hour prior to the start of the service at the church. Burial will be held in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Ramie's family would like to thank everyone who has reached out and has shared their sympathies, kind words, and memories of Ramie.
