Robert (Bob) M Cull passed away peacefully at home on May 2, 2025, with wife, Edythe, at his side. He was born May 5, 1928, in Grafton North Dakota. He moved often as his father was a manager for Central Lumber Company. He graduated from Central High School in Crookston Minnesota in 1946 followed by two years working for Idaho Forest Service. He continued his education over the next two years at Dunwoody Electrical School in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
In 1949 he started a 40-year career with Minnkota Power Cooperative in Grand Forks. In June 1951 Bob received his Army draft notice, so he and Edythe quickly planned their wedding and were married on August 19th, 1951. This was followed by a 10-day honeymoon before departing for Fort Sill Oklahoma on August 30th. Edythe spent two months with Bob in Oklahoma, and they celebrated the holidays at home before Bob left for Korea for 18 months. Bob was honorably discharged in May 1953, and returned to work and married life.
Bob was a great husband and father, and all-around special person. He had a quiet demeanor and always thought before he spoke. Bob and wife Edythe adopted two children, first Cathy in 1964, and Craig in 1967. As a family they enjoyed camping and traveling across the entire United States, seeing close to every state. Bob could and would fix almost anything and passed these skills on to his children. Bob retired in 1989, and he and Edythe spent 3 months of the year in Mesa Arizona for 17 years.
Bob enjoyed wood carving, making silver jewelry, square dancing, camping, boating, fishing, and hiking. Bob even built a boat from a kit, and this 14 ft boat was used for years. Bob and Edythe made multiple trips to Wisconsin, Texas, Pennsylvania, and Georgia visiting their daughter and grandson, and many trips to Missouri and Washington visiting family. The last 20 years they spent at home in Grand Forks at the home they purchased in 1956. Bob was very active in the First Presbyterian Church for many years, especially with the landscaping committee and supporting the youth group.
Bob and Edythe were the perfect love story, and these soulmates were married for 73 years.
Bob is survived by wife Edythe Cull, daughter Cathy Reynolds (Jason), son Craig Cull (Betty), and grandson Alexander Thompson, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ernest M. Cull and Hilda Aas Cull, Sisters Helen Shanks and Eunice Moore, brothers-in-law Paul Shanks and Keith Moore, and nephew Mike Moore.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in Bob’s name to Circle of Friends Animal Shelter (4375 N. Washington St. Grand Forks, ND 58203) or donor's choice.
