Scott Brian Olson, born on November 6, 1961, in Bismarck, North Dakota, to Gordon and Susan (Karna) Olson. A loving husband, devoted father, and a cherished friend, Scott's life was a testament to hard work, love, and determination. He was known not just for his vocation, but for the unmistakable spirit with which he embraced life.
Scott enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1982, a decision that would come to define a significant chapter of his life. With unwavering dedication, he served with distinction, earning the Army Service Ribbon and the Sharpshooter qualifications. His military career culminated in an honorable discharge, marking a proud legacy of service to his country.
Most recently, Scott thrived as a heavy equipment operator. His hands, though strong and calloused from hard labor, were warm and comforting to those around him. He approached every task with the same fervor he applied to family life, immersing himself in everything he did with an overabundance of love and tenacity. He was often described as a "badass" by those who knew him; he lived boldly yet with an unmistakable sense of care for his loved ones.
Scott's family was his world. He is survived by his beloved wife, Debra Olson, who shared countless years of laughter and love at his side. Together, they nurtured a family, raising three wonderful children: Damion, Stepheny VerHoeven, and Stephen Krogstad; along with six grandchildren; siblings, Keith Olson and Lori (Steven) Schuh and numerous nieces and nephews. Scott embraced the role of father wholeheartedly, instilling values of hard work, compassion, and perseverance in his children and grandchildren, who now carry his spirit into their own lives. He delighted in the joyous chaos that comes with being a grandparent, creating cherished memories with his grandchildren.
His departure leaves a void that echoes with fond memories and laughter. His parents, Susan and Gordon Olson, predeceased him, but Scott undoubtedly carries their warmth and lessons into the hearts of the generations that follow.
