Sharon Jeanette Borgen

Sharon Anderson Borgen, of Grand Forks, North Dakota, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025, after a courageous battle with a cancerous brain tumor, surrounded by her family.

Sharon was born on September 26, 1946, in Grand Forks to Douglas Anderson and Dona Anderson Krom, and later lovingly raised by Dona and George Krom. She graduated from Central High School and attended the University of North Dakota. On December 18, 1966, she married the love of her life, Donald Borgen, and together they built a life centered around family, faith, and love.

Over the years, Sharon worked at First Star Bank, Altru, and United Day Nursery, where she built lasting friendships and touched many lives.

Family was the center of Sharon’s world. She cherished time spent with her loved ones, from quiet afternoons reading or tending to her garden to joyful gatherings at the lake. She especially treasured doing crafts with her sister, Jolene, and sharing in the simple joys of everyday life.

Sharon is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Don; her children, Kim (Wayne) Dietrich and Jonathan (Angela) Borgen; granddaughters, Emma (Luke) Gulbranson, Jenna (Julian) Benson, and Maggie Dietrich; great-grandson, Bowin Benson; and her sisters, Jolene Anderson Johnson and Kathy (Jerry) Aase. She will also be dearly missed by many extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas Anderson, Dona Anderson Krom and George Krom; her parents-in-law, Don and Elaine Borgen; and her sister-in-law, Barbara Borgen.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Valley Memorial TCU for the exceptional care and kindness they provided to Sharon and her loved ones during her final days.

She will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, strength, and the love she poured into her family.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Amundson Funeral Home followed by a memorial service at 7:00 p.m.
