Susan Margaret Anderson, lovingly known as “Ma”, was born in Ada, Minnesota, on July 31, 1944, and grew up in Twin Valley, Minnesota, with her brother, Richard. She was born to a proud Swede, Carol (Tehven), and a true Norski, Oscar Anderson. Unfortunately, Carol passed away when Ma was just seven years old. Ma missed her mother every day—and now, they are joyfully reunited.
After graduating from Twin Valley High School, Ma attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, to study computers. Can you imagine…1962 and computers? Her life journey then took her to St. Paul, Minnesota, where she met a guy named Richard LeTexier. On January 9, 1965, they were united in marriage and together were blessed with two sons, Duane (1966) and David (1968), and raised their family in Manvel, North Dakota. They later divorced.
In 1971, Ma began a long and dedicated career at Crystal Sugar in East Grand Forks, Minnesota, where she worked in data entry and payroll. She faithfully served the company for 39 years, retiring in 2010.
Ma’s contagious love for God was central to her life and in 1989, she started the Praise God Parade in Grand Forks. Inspired by her faith, she continued to do this parade annually for 11 years.
A woman of many talents, Ma was an accomplished quilter. Early on, she made quilts by hand. Later in life, she bought a long arm quilting machine, and Sue Tex Quilting was established. Her creations are still treasured by many.
Music was another lifelong passion. A gifted vocalist and instrumentalist, Ma sang and played piano and organ. She was the organist at Trinity Lutheran Church in Manvel, North Dakota, for 40 years. From her post at the organ, she had a front-row seat to countless weddings, funerals, and community moments. She generously volunteered her musical talents at local nursing homes, bringing joy to many. Ma cherished her time singing with various groups, including Sweet Adelines and Joy Springs.
Ma had a knack for crafting and gardening. She never shied away from a craft challenge, and she could grow anything, but especially enjoyed her outdoor flower gardens.
Though life was not always easy and she faced many serious health struggles, Ma met them with grace, humor, and unshakable faith. We can still hear her laughing and carrying on with her Scandinavian accent. Although Ma struggled with dementia later in life, glimpses of her vibrant spirit would still shine through in her beautiful music, smile, and silly personality.
Ma is survived by her sons, Duane (Teresa) LeTexier of East Grand Forks, ND and David (Mandy) LeTexier of Fremont, NE; grandchildren, Erin (Dan) Holt, Logan (Hannah) LeTexier, Taylor LeTexier, LaRae LeTexier, Kylie LeTexier, Mallory Lackey, Brycen Lackey, Liam Lackey; great-grandchildren, Avery Holt, Alden Holt, Remington LeTexier, Theodore LeTexier, and Dorothy Letexier; brother, Richard (Yvonne) Anderson of Starbuck, MN; honorary son, Mike Lund; and many other family members and friends.
Ma was preceded in death by parents, Carol and Oscar Anderson; step-mother, Julia Anderson; step-siblings, Bruce Peterson and Ona Cary; and daughter-in-law, Deb LeTexier
Ma’s legacy is one of faith, creativity, strength, and love. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude and appreciation to Edgewood East Senior Living for their care and support.
