Terrance "Terry" Metcalf

Terrance Michael Metcalf, age 82, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 20, 2025 in Wewoka, Oklahoma. A lifelong resident of Greater Grand Forks, Terry spent winters in Arizona and was returning to Grand Forks when he became ill and was hospitalized at the VA Medical Center in Oklahoma City, subsequently being cared for in a nursing home in Wewoka upon his death.  

Terry was born at home in East Grand Forks on August 23, 1942, to F. Howard Metcalf and Mabel Meyers Metcalf. He was the youngest of thirteen children and spent his childhood at the family home on North Fourth Street, across from Sherlock Park. He graduated from EGF Central High School. He was a proud U.S. Veteran, having served in the U.S. Army from 1968-1970. Terry was a carpenter by trade and spent some years working on the Alaska pipeline.  

Terry was an avid historian and spent hours at libraries researching local and family histories. He had a gift for storytelling and a remarkable memory that made stories come to life. He was a great sports fan, and closely followed his favorite teams, the MN Twins and Vikings.

Terry is survived by his sisters Rosemarie O’Leary, East Grand Forks, MN and Catherine Anderson, Forest Lake, MN, and seventy nieces and nephews.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, brothers John Howard Metcalf, Frederick Charles Metcalf, William Patrick Metcalf, Howard James Metcalf, Joseph Michael Metcalf, and Robert Emmett Metcalf, and sisters Mary Margaret Lewis, Gertrude Irene Sullivan, Maureen Schreder, and Patricia Kramchuck.  

Funeral services will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in East Grand Forks, Minnesota on Thursday, August 28th with Visitation at 1:00PM in the Church, followed by Funeral Mass at 2:00 PM with burial at Resurrection Cemetery in East Grand Forks.
