Thomas R Nyberg

Thomas R. Nyberg, 73, Grand Forks, ND, passed away on December 10, 2025, at Valley Senior Living on 42nd in Grand Forks.

Thomas Robert Nyberg was born on January 3, 1952, in Grafton, ND, the son of Oscar and Dolores (Stevens) Nyberg. Tom was raised and educated in St. Thomas, ND, and graduated from St. Thomas High School. He attended the University of North Dakota, obtaining a bachelor's degree in education, and then taught industrial arts in several schools, including Ashley, Edinburg, Fordville, and Park River, ND.

He married Diane Ommedal on April 17th, 1982, and in 1983, they moved to Grand Forks, ND. Tom purchased the House of Vacuums on North Washington, which he owned and operated for 30 years. He could always be found working with his hands and could build or fix just about anything. After retiring in 2015, he spent a lot of time going on walks with Diane, as well as visiting and watching his grandkids. They would always bring a smile to his face. His grandchildren adored him and will always remember him making them giggle with his silly faces and jokes.

Tom is survived by his wife, Diane; daughters: Miranda (Booker) Roy of Goddard, KS, Alyssa Nyberg, Rebecca (Jake) Peterson of Grand Forks; grandchildren: Axel Roy, Finn Roy, Sloan Roy, Pace Peterson and Poppy Peterson; siblings: Ron (Marilyn) Nyberg, John “Jackie” Nyberg, Nancy (John) Czapiewski, and Greg (Patty) Nyberg; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Dolores Nyberg, and his sisters, Judy Wenlund and Mary Nelson.

A Memorial Service will be held at Sharon Lutheran Church at 1:00PM on Saturday, December 13, 2025. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service.
