Wallace A. Nygaard

Wallace “Wally” Albert Nygaard, 101, a long time farmer from Buxton, passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Woodside Village with family at his side.

Wally was born to Emil and Hilda (Swenson) Nygaard on July 23^rd, 1920 near Nielsville, Minnesota.

He married Alma Hovet on November 16, 1945.  Alma passed away in March of 1974.  Together they had 3 children, Wayne, Ardyce and Rodger. 

Wally married Annie Hovet in 1977.  The couple lived in Buxton where he farmed.

Wally is survived by:  his daughter, Ardyce (Chuck) Wierson of Mesa, AZ; son, Rodger (Sharon) Nygaard of Reynolds, ND; 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Donna (Mike) Breiland of Buxton; 4 step children and numerous step-grandchildren.

Wally is preceded in death by: his parents; wives, Alma and Annie; son, Wayne; granddaughters, Margaret and Kate Nygaard; brothers, Lloyd and Kenny; and sisters, Edna Brend and Margie Halvorson; and and daughter-in-law, Carol.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 17, at 10:30 a.m. at Amundson Funeral Home.  Visitation will begin 1 hour prior to the service.  At the family’s request, face coverings are required.  Interment will be held at Hylestad Cemetery in rural Buxton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund.
