Gerald Davidson

Gerald E. Davidson, 76 of Grand Forks, formerly of Milton, ND passed away Sunday, July 3, 2011 at Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks, ND. Gerald was born in Milton, ND on October 17, 1934 to Gisli and Gudrun (Anderson) Davidson. He attended elementary and high school in Milton graduating in 1954. He then attended Mayville State Teachers College, teaching in rural schools in Milton and Drayton. He worked for Bakke Homes. He entered the US Navy in 1958 retiring after serving 20 years. He worked for IT&T in Alaska and Raytheon in Thule, Greenland in radar systems. He retired to live in Milton becoming owner of the Milton Cafe for several years. He was active in the Milton Senior Center during his time there. Because of declining health, he moved to Grand Forks in 2005. Gerald was an avid Milton supporter and enjoyed doing favors for the people of Milton and the community. His love of family was his pride and joy. Every niece and nephew shared a special place in his heart. He had a group of card playing buddies in Mountain. Gerald was most proud of his Icelandic heritage and Fjalla Lutheran in rural Milton. Gerald is survived by sisters: Eileen (Ken) Block, New Ulm, MN; Diane Fossum, Grand Forks, ND; Velma May, Roy, Utah; brothers: Dale (Gayle) Davidson; Dennis (Peggy) Davidson; and David (Melody) Davidson, all of Grand Forks, ND; brother-in-law Allan Grundahl of Saskatoon, Sask; 29 nieces and nephews, 43 great nieces and nephews and 3 great-great nieces and nephews. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, brother Kenneth and sister Faye in infancy; brothers Vernon and Wayne; sister Janice Grundahl and brother-in-law Nels Fossum. Funeral Services for Gerald will be at Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks on Saturday, July 9th at 10:30 a.m. Visitation is one hour before services. Internment and Military Honors will be at 1:45 PM in the Fjalla Lutheran Cementary, rural Milton followed by a luncheon at Milton Hilltopper Senior Center.
