Kathy Mae Jenkins was born on May 6, 1951 in Muskegon, MI the daughter of Harvey Sorenson and Darline Fitzgerald (Rosewald).  Kathy attended school and received her education in Brainerd, MN. Following high school, Kathy worked on furthering her education in the nursing field as she always had a love of helping and caring for others.

On March 30, 1972 Kathy was united in marriage to Daniel Paul Jenkins and to this union five children were born.  Kathy, Daniel, Charlie, Monica, and John.

Kathy loved people and enjoyed talking and visiting with everyone she met. Kathy held a variety of employment over the years, but her most recent was paper route carrier at the Grand Forks Herald and the Crookston Times. She thoroughly enjoyed meeting the customers on her routes and it brought her happiness to be around others and see their welcoming smiles while she was delivering.  Kathy worked for Jenni O Foods and she worked alongside her late husband, Daniel in their family business, Jenkins General Maintenance.

Kathy found enjoyment in being a home maker and raising her children.  She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and shared in their lives and interests.   Kathy took great pride in each of her children’s accomplishments and was so proud of her family. She enjoyed traveling often going on trips to visit her children and grandchildren. Kathy was known for having a true servant’s heart, often volunteering her time and offering assistance to those who may be in need.  Kathy received a special recognition for her volunteerism with the American Red Cross during the 1997 East Grand Forks flood.

After her retirement, Kathy loved to go fishing. Often Kathy would be found going to her favorite fishing spot with her friends and neighbors. Kathy also enjoyed woodworking, gardening, coloring, spending time with family, and volunteering with her church. Kathy was a strong determined woman who overcame obstacles and adversity in her life; she was a proud cancer survivor, being diagnosed in 2017.  Kathy’s faith was important and held great meaning to her; she enjoyed the fellowship of her brothers and sisters, recently being baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on October 27, 2018.
