Philip Amundson Owner/Licensed Funeral Director (North Dakota and Minnesota) serving families since 1982 phil@amundsonfuneralhome.com Phil grew up in Grand Forks, graduating from Red River High School in 1979. He attended UND from 1979-1981, and graduated from Commonwealth College of Funeral Service, Houston, Texas in 1982. He returned to Grand Forks to serve an apprenticeship under the direction of his father, Byron D. Amundson, and has served in the capacity of licensed funeral director since obtaining his license in 1983. He received his Minnesota Mortuary Science License in 1991.
Phil is a member of United Lutheran Church, and has served on numerous boards there, including two terms on the church council, and is also a member of Red River Lions Club. His hobbies include fishing and hockey. Phil and his wife Shelly have two daughters, Anna and Greta.

Mark Amundson Owner/Licensed Funeral Director (North Dakota and Minnesota) serving families since 1987 mark@amundsonfuneralhome.com Mark was raised and educated in Grand Forks, graduating from Red River High School in 1981 and from the University of North Dakota in 1985 with a degree in communications. Mark graduated from Commonwealth College of Funeral Service in Houston, Texas in 1987. He returned to Grand Forks and served as an apprentice under his father, Byron D. Amundson. Mark is a licensed funeral director in both North Dakota and Minnesota. He is also licensed to help families establish pre-need funeral accounts.
Mark is an active member of United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. Mark enjoys golfing, fishing, and UND Hockey games. Mark and his wife, Julie, have three children, Matthew, Alyssa and Joshua.

Paul T. Herzog Licensed Funeral Director (North Dakota and Minnesota) serving families since 1992 paul@amundsonfuneralhome.com Paul grew up in Cavalier, North Dakota and graduated from high school in 1988. He graduated from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis in 1992 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Health Sciences with a major in Mortuary Science. He moved to Grand Forks in 1992 and worked as an apprentice until earning his North Dakota (1992) and Minnesota License (1993). Paul is a licensed funeral director in both North Dakota and Minnesota. Paul is a long time member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Grand Forks.
Paul enjoys running, traveling and spending time with his wife Tara and family. Paul is well acquainted with the Greater Grand Forks Community and is a very knowledgeable funeral professional.

Chris Garske Licensed Funeral Director (North Dakota) serving families since 2001 chris@amundsonfuneralhome.com Chris grew up in Devils Lake, ND, graduating from Devils Lake High School in 1995. He attended UND-LR from 1995-1997. He then moved to La Grande, Oregon where he began a 2 year funeral director apprenticeship. In 1999, he began mortuary school at Mt. Hood College in Gresham, Oregon were he continued with another 2 years of apprenticeship with a family owned funeral home. Upon receiving a degree in Mortuary Science, Chris & his wife Michelle moved to Grand Forks were he received his North Dakota license in 2001. Michelle is employed at the UND College of Business & Public Administration as the Graduate Advisor/Accreditation Coordinator.
Chris is a member of the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association and was recently voted by his peers in funeral service to serve 2 years as the N.D. Northeast District Governor of Funeral Directors.
Chris enjoys playing hockey, spending time at the lake/outdoors, golfing, hunting, fishing, skiing, and attending UND Fighting Sioux sporting events, and spending time with his wife and daughter. Chris is an exceptional funeral director who has been appreciated by the numerous families he has had the honor to serve.
