ServicesAmundson Funeral Home has a comfortable, residential style facility ready to serve your needs. We have the most off-street parking and the most handicapped accessible building that is available in the area.
Our staff, with 112 year combined experience, is professional, knowledgeable, and considerate. The professional vehicles we provide are continually updated. We make available to you comprehensive in-house services such as Pre-arrangement and Pre-funding of funeral arrangements, selections of permanent engraved memorials of granite and bronze and offer the only complimentary aftercare program available for widows/widowers in the Grand Forks area.
Although we cannot show every detail of every service available, some of our most popular selections are shown here.
Pre planning Services are available without cost. A logical beginning is to gather information. A Personal Planning Profile is available here on our website. You may fill it in and print it out. Click Here to access the form.
Our suggestion is to print it out and record the information. You are welcome to mail a copy or FAX (701-772-1948) to the funeral home (for confidential safekeeping which is free of charge) in addition to the copy you keep at home with your important documents. A variety of information about our services and products is available through our website. We offer free Pre-planning conferences to discuss your wishes at no cost.
You may wish to consider Prepayment of services. Prepayment for funeral services is easy to arrange. We offer funding options that are tailored to your needs. For those in a long term nursing home care situation, dollars can be protected for future funeral home services. In North Dakota, most individuals are allowed up to $8,000.00 to be set aside for funeral services if the account is set up properly. In Minnesota, all reasonable goods and services can be prepaid, usually with no limitation on the amount. Again, the key is to have the account properly set up. Mark Amundson would be pleased to help you with the financing aspect of preplanning.
We can also assist with questions as to procedure, customs, cemeteries, etc. Please contact with concerns you may have.
Planning ahead ….you have true peace of mind, knowing that you have taken care of everything.

When Death Occurs
Anticipated Death at home: Today more people with terminal illnesses are choosing to spend their final days at home under the care of hospice. In this instance, the hospice nurse on duty should be notified first of the death. Notify the hospice staff of your decision to have Amundson Funeral Home care for arrangements. They will call the funeral home to come to the residence at the appropriate time. Many times when someone has a terminal illness, the family will elect to make prearrangements with us so that they are not overwhelmed with the many important decisions at the time of death. More information is available by clicking on the Prearrangements button here.
Unexpected Death at home or elsewhere: Call 911. The police and emergency personnel will respond, and determine the appropriate steps to be taken. Emergency personnel will notify the Physician or Medical Examiner to secure the release to the funeral home. With your instruction they will call us next in order that we may respond to your needs.
Death out of state: If the death occurs outside of our local area, you should first call Amundson Funeral Home toll free at 1-800-778-7076. Unless you have a specific preference of funeral homes in the city of death, we can coordinate with a local funeral director at the place of death. As a member of several national associations, Amundson Funeral Home can often save families hundreds of dollars by having our firm make the transportation arrangements.
Funeral Arrangements Conference: The next step will be to determine a time for a conference with your family to determine your needs and schedule services of your choice. To assure you that one of our funeral directors is available and can devote the personal attention that you deserve, we request that you make a phone call to us to schedule a mutually convenient arrangement time. If it is helpful to you, you may review casket, vault and bulletin choices in the Product Showroom area of our website
When you come to the conference, you may want to consider bringing the following items:
A recent photograph of the deceased for newspaper, bulletins, and preparation
An obituary (if you have written one) even if it a draft version. If the obituary is saved as a WORD document, it can be emailed to us or brought in on a hard disc.A Personal Planning Profile can be accessed from our website.
A copy of the cemetery deed (if available)
Clothing for the deceased including undergarments. Shoes are optional. For women, long sleeves and a higher or closed neckline is preferred.
